Elise is a Year 6 student currently participating in the Global Problem Solvers program.
An exceptional artist, Elise’s illustrations often feature animals and mythical creatures, such as dragons, and she writes creatively with emotion and a mature perception of complex topics.
She enjoys the Global Problem Solving program because problems are broken down into parts and rich discussions evolve around different perspectives.
Elise’s interests lie in drawing, reading, writing, and playing the piano. She is also passionate about turtles and wants to protect them from endangerment. She feels so strongly about their survival, she recently donated her pocket money and birthday money to help protect the turtles.
Elise said she has a few ideas about what she would like to do when she is older.
“An artist, an author or a geologist,” she asserted.
She has a keen interest in rocks and reads a lot of books about them. Elise said she finds it really interesting how hard rocks are, and what streaks they have.
“It’s how you tell fool’s gold from gold,” she explained.
Elise’s favourite book at the moment is one she has just finished called A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness.
“It’s an interesting and sad story,” she said.
“What makes it interesting is that it’s mysterious and all is not as you expect it to be.”
Some of Elise’s drawings can be viewed in the slideshow below.
